Interesting move with Nathan Baxter there. Southwood had offers last summer but turned them down because they were for no.2 spots. Either he’s going to usurp Baxter or he’s now content with a back-up role.

Poor Luke , he's off to a training camp in The Algarve.
Beachley Barracks more likely for our guys

A bolton fan I know say's Southwood very unlikely to replace Baxter but Baxter's reserve last season Coleman (ipswich) is more than likely going to be sent back so Southwood to replace him. I presume back up in league one is better for his international efforts.

Enjoy the bench Luke.

doubt that. playing regular football would put him in a much better place.

It could mean they have suitors for Baxter.

I do find the move strange if he has gone to sit on the bench, especially as he apparently turned down moves to sit on Championship benches last season.

i liked Luke but for me he was in the Scott Brown mould, a great shot stopper, but sometimes hesitant to command his box. in saying that, the 'great shot stopper' saved our bacon many times

Unless it was from 18-25 yards. I don't think I've seen a keeper beaten so often from outside the box.

I do love the bloke though and we'll be much worse without him. His penalty record alone was outstanding.

Seriously doubt that, but regardless of which of us is correct, Luke will certainly NOT be thinking of his international career just now, not least because that presently amounts to vying for the back-up position with Conor Hazard (Plymouth) to established No.1, Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Instead, he will be concentrating 100% on resuming his club career i.e. the career that pays his mortgage and provides for his family.

And fine gk though he is, at 26 and after two seasons with a team newly relegated to League Two, and with a serious injury to boot, wherever his next move should be, it could be career-defining.

I can only wish him the best.

Best of luck Luke.
And a nice away trip with your new team mates to Portugal. You certainly wouldn’t get that at Cheltenham, when was the last time we went abroad pre-season, 15 years ago maybe?

Well we can’t afford to go anywhere far these days it appears, under Yatesy I’m sure the lads went to Wales to a military training base for a few days with friendly matches against Welsh clubs too?
Would be good to see a few pics from the training sessions, presumably it’s all at Seasons, I know they had one session at Pittville School but haven’t seen anywhere else mentioned, the Lido and the racecourse have been used and mentioned in the past.
And what happened to the open day that was mentioned?
