Absolute nothing, dead rubber for us, do or die for them. A classic end of season game, in other words. They need to beat both us and then Salford on the final day AND hope that Tranmere slip up against Crewe and Newport.
In truth, it looks like most Carlisle fans are resigned to relegation so it may not be as dramatic as all that.
Nevertheless, very good numbers heading down from Cumbria. The centre blocks of the Hazlewoods are sold out. Just blocks 6 and 1 at either end with good availability (wonder if we might give them the Colin Farmer section potentially?)

Remember last season when it was a dead rubber for them as they were relegated whilst we were scrapping for our lives.

Not strictly true. They‘re 4 points behind. If they win & draw their two games they would stay up if Tranmere lose both.Jerry St Clair wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 07:44 Absolute nothing, dead rubber for us, do or die for them. If Carlisle win both games, then Tranmere need to win one game in order to send Carlisle down.
Purely based on distances, would there be a longer trip than Carlisle and Truro?
On this match I think if the Notts County and Gillingham games showed anything it was that it'll make a better spectacle playing against someone chasing something rather than mid table nothingness
There's nothing wrong with Truro or the football club. I watched quite a lot at the end of last season when they played in Gloucester. It's a lovely club, and I'm hoping to get to their new ground next season.
It's just it's a long way from Cheltenham, and Carlisle is also a long way from Cheltenham, but in the opposite direction. Truro to Gateshead might be bit further than to Carlisle, should Truro go up and Gateshead don't.

Good point. I was looking at Carlisle’s inferior goal difference of -1 behind Tranmere, but in your scenario they would obviously overturn that.art vandalay wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 14:36Not strictly true. Gateshead about 20 miles further by Google Maps directions. Truro to Gateshead Stadium 458 miles.Artemis wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 21:52There's nothing wrong with Truro or the football club. Not so sure. They'll be up against one of York, FGR, Oldham, Rochdale, Gateshead and a resurgent Southend. If York blow it in the playoffs they will be nailed on for the title next year.

Nearly 800 tickets sold so far so the Hazlewoods will be pretty much full on Saturday. An outstanding effort for such a long journey. Should be a great atmosphere from them.
Not many sides go back to back and those who do are usually in a mess, either turmoil or riddled with debt. The issue at Carlisle looks very much like they've loaded themselves like FGR with a huge wage bill for the level and players sat comfortably with those wages not prepared to get stuck in.
Just like FGR? I do agree though they will eventually get it right but with them, FGR and York in that league next season that is league one wage budgets in the national league and only two will go up. That said, Barnet have won the league on a shoe string.

Yeah, when clubs go into a spiral, it's hard to stop. They've had two catastrophic seasons so next season they need to stabilise. I'd predict them ending up somewhere around 10th, clearing the decks, sorting the mess for a promotion push in 26/27.Robin wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025, 16:15Not many sides go back to back and those who do are usually in a mess, either turmoil or riddled with debt. Yep, I tipped them to return as champions after they were relegated last season and then again after they recruited half our first team last summer. I guess they could still come up via the play-offs, but current form suggests they probably won't. I'm surprised at how they've fared this season, tbh - and I think they'll find it more difficult next season if they lose in the play-offs next month.
On the other hand: oh dear, how sad, what a pity.
The trouble for them in that respect is their American owner isn't a celebrity, or got any celebrities behind them, so the media couldn't give a toss.
I'd love to know their losses for the year. Was just looking at the money spent on agents this season. Almost 3 x what we spent at 133k. Well clear of any other team in the NLasl wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 13:09Yep, I tipped them to return as champions after they were relegated last season and then again after they recruited half our first team last summer. So good to see Carlisle go down. Dirty Northerners, along with Morecambe. I'll never forget 2017/18 Clint Hill and all his teammates giving it to the PRE after they beat us 1-0. What goes around comes around.
