Your a joke! How dare you come out and criticise the fans who pay your wages and stand in the minus temperatures to watch yet another loss, you ban anyone who dares to be a little loud or passionate! And another thing not to even acknowledge TaxiDaves passing today was a disgrace I'm sure a minutes silence would of been appreciated.

Looking on twitter I think Paul Baker has said on BBC Glos that our away fans don't create any atmosphere and Accrington's away following is better!
If true then it's an odd statement and one that doesn't help bury the 'disconnect' between fans and BoD that we were trying to!

I caught some of the interview on BBC Radio Glos at about 17.20 this afternoon, PB said our fans are just too quiet, mind you there ain't be much to get excited about in the last 12 months has there Paul ?
Pete Matthews asked some probing questions, said it needed the teams performances to get the supporters more animated and gave PB the stats in 2014, and it did not make good listening.
Wonder if some wizz can find the interview on the web somehow and post a link on here ?

That could well be £16 - £23 for Vanarama Conference football come August!
As much as we loved Taxidave you just can’t have a minutes silences for fans if you did we would have one ever match.cheltsaxon wrote:Your a joke! I heard the interview. It made me really angry.I am fed up hearing digs at the fans.Exeter away is the sort of fixture i would consider going too.Having weighed it up though, who wants to spend all of their boxing day on a motor way, spend a lot of money, get soaked and know we will be lucky to score a goal never mind win the match.I will be at Oxford though as it is closer and a better stadium and i hope and pray that we have some new players in place. However Baker didn`t give me the impression the cheque book was coming out.I will sing and show passion at Oxford just like i did at Tamworth.A game where lots of fans turned up and sang. After that match the manager should have been fired but wasn`t.I think the board need to show some willing now as they havn`t shown much from what i can see.
How are you going to expain to 2000 fans that didn't know him who he was, the mentality of some fans beggars belief.rasta wrote:My first thought having read this thread is we should of had a minutes silence, however there may be something else planned, there are a few plaques around the ground so we should not judge just yet.
It just proves how they get wrapped up in the internet and this board, if you asked the majority of fans who taxidave, robin, rasta or trickster etc etc etc was they wouldn’t have a clue so how can you have a minutes silence, come on put your brain in gear.
For all we know TD may not have wanted any fuss. That is certainly the Taxidave I know. The club helped out a few weeks back when Dave was very ill, something he was very grateful for on here.
I agree with Trickster, you can't go around having a minute's silence everytime a fan passes on, it's simply unfeasible. Again, I imagine these thoughts would have been shared by TD as well.

I think we should have a minutes silence before every game.... to prepare us for what we are about to go through in the next 90 minutes. They even scrapped teh cross bar challenge, the only bit of real entertainment
Agree with you and Trickster.Si Robin wrote:For all we know TD may not have wanted any fuss. That is certainly the Taxidave I know. The club helped out a few weeks back when Dave was very ill, something he was very grateful for on here.

The crossbar challenge was not scrapped, it's just on the home game after Christmas they choose not to do it as they make a slightly bigger thing out of the draws especially as the 500 club draw is the big £5000 one.confused.com wrote:I think we should have a minutes silence before every game.... to prepare us for what we are about to go through in the next 90 minutes. dont want to argue for the sake of it Andy, but no way we have had regular cross bar challenge at home matches, We had one a couple of games ago which looked like an impromptu affair. apart from that, I can't remember the last oneAndy wrote:The crossbar challenge was not scrapped, it's just on the home game after Christmas they choose not to do it as they make a slightly bigger thing out of the draws especially as the 500 club draw is the big £5000 one.confused.com wrote:I think we should have a minutes silence before every game.... to prepare us for what we are about to go through in the next 90 minutes. Ok fair enough with regards to the minutes silence I may have jumped the gun abit, but to have a dig at the fans at this stage of the season with the position we are in is unbelievable!
I know that big Tony Russo's was paid for and instigated by his familyrasta wrote:My first thought having read this thread is we should of had a minutes silence, however there may be something else planned, there are a few plaques around the ground so we should not judge just yet.
Sorry Baker, but in order to get me to make some noise the players need to give me enough a performance that shows me that they're worth encouraging.
Whenever a new player comes in they get our backing to a certain extent (some groan that they've got a poor previous record etc - but our fans generally will give people a chance before getting on their backs).
Over time - especially with this bunch - we've lost any enthusiasm for supporting them, as individuals we can't be expected to show more passion from the stands than each of them is showing on the pitch, after all we are paying for the privilege of standing in the cold watching that dross whilst they are being paid a lot more than that to actually give us something to cheer about...

I have no worries at all. We have been informed by the chuckle brothers that we have a 'lucky' manager and it seems that counts for a lot these days51/84 wrote:but CV says it will get better so dont worry
Us away fans have sounded loud at some of the games I've been to this season where we have taken 150 odd fans. Admittedly we have been in stands with decent acoustics, Bury, Tranmere, Morecambe. The Exeter away end has no roof so there isn't that much point in starting loads of chants Paul...... The acoustics are also poor in the Prestbury Road End (as many if us keep saying) where our home fans want to sing.. but more chants get started and more people get involved in environments where the acoustics are good.CTFC03 wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30624026
We currently give the away fans the Whaddon Road End where you have said the atmosphere that comes out of it is terrific. I've mentioned this a few times now so sorry to the dedicated readers as I am repeating myself but if you are reading this Paul, please seriously consider allocating the WRE to home fans that want to support the team vocally. And keep the same prices as the Prestbury Road End. It will improve the atmosphere (created by CTFC fans) considerably.
have listened to the interview now, not very critical for me of the fans, however this subject rumbles on season after season. The only people who can sort this out are the club, we need a dedicated section for singers, not moved around, and in a good place. For me Block one of the in2print is perfect, if that is to pricey fans could stand in the corner of the terrace. Perhaps a discount for singers to.
Having finally had a chance to hear the interview I can now pass comment.
Baker sounded like a very stressed man under enormous pressure. So I'll allow a little bit of rambling.let, which seemed to happen in a couple of moments.
While it's never smart to criticise fans, it's absolutely insane, for a Chairman or board member, to take shots at the support from a position of weakness. No matter how valid his comments might be.
I have said on numerous occasions that our support is pathetic when it comes to making noise. Not just in the past 18 months, but even when things were going well. You can probably go back to the John Ward days and it's slowly got quieter and quieter since. Yes we have put up with a lot since then - Allen's reign of terror killed off a large portion of passionate support - but even through the 2 good years of Yates' run our support more resembled a morgue to a football ground.
People questioned me a few weeks ago when I said I wanted Baker to stop giving interviews. He often gets lost in his train of thought, he often makes statements of intent that are seldom acted upon, and now he's taken a poorly thought out poke at the supporters.
So, once again, I'll make a plea. Please, Paul, leave the interviews to the players and playing staff. A pre and post-season summary of our off-field state is all I want to hear.
